Roadtrips, Uni and Sweet Sounds – Monthly Roundup

Yep, we are now half way through October and like most people I have no idea where 2016 has gone!

The month of September was absolutely crazy for me – this seems to be a reoccurring theme within my monthly roundups but I am more than okay with that. Before I get into my roundup I just have to say that I am absolutely over the moon that Autumn is now upon us (woohoo). From A/W fashion and beauty to cold crispy nights and cinnamon scents, Autumn 2016 has really got me good. I cannot wait to get stuck in to some Autumnal posts! Anyway, without further adieu, here’s a little sneaky peak at what I’ve been up to over the last month!

At the beginning of September myself and a few friends fled the rainy Scottish summer and headed state side to road trip around the West Coast of America.  Beginning in Joshua Tree National Park, we worked our way through Palm Springs, Laguna beach, San Diego to Los Angeles and spent our last week visiting my uncle in San Fransisco. Throughout our travels we gazed upon some of the most beautiful sites, munched on some crazy ass food and even ticked off some of our bucket list destinations, we really had the best time. Another highlight of the trip for me was being able to catch up with my lovely friend Annabelle, who is currently travelling the world like an absolute badass, I have no doubt that she is currently sporting some hippie pants whilst sipping on a large coconut as we speak. As you can imagine, the trip was an absolute dream, which was only made better by the fab gals I shared it with – I really hope that our next adventure won’t be too far away. If you would like to read a little more about our adventure, you can do so here.

As you may or may not know I am currently writing my research paper for my masters degree and  this month marked the start of my “get shit done” period . Over the past fortnight I have been dedicating quite a lot of my time to carrying out research  and attempting to form the structure of my paper which has been equally stressful / interesting. However, I am getting there slowly but surely. I am actually considering writing up a “Dissertation Writing Tips” post as I feel that I have picked up a few handy tips and tricks along the way, is this something you would be interested in?

Well, to be honest this month has been the first time I have felt a little deflated and uninspired when it comes to blogging. With travelling, uni and work taking up a lot of my free time I have been struggling to find the correct study / blogging balance. However, after a touch of unexpected inspiration I am back and ready to get the ball rolling again.

Products of the month

Estee Lauder Double wear foundation – Okay, I know that this is a majorly hyped product, a beauty lovers “must have” if you will, but up until now I have always opted for something a little more dewy and lighter in coverage. However, over the past month I have been reapplying this daily and falling more and more in love! I find that it provides excellent coverage even on the worst of skin days. This was fab for travelling as I knew that I wouldn’t have to be touching up during the day and that it would literally last a full 24 hours, in rain or shine.

Origins Drink up intensive mask – Whilst in the states I found that the air-conditioning / flights left my skin feeling extremely de-hydrated and dry. However, Origins’ drink up intensive mask saved the day! The overnight mask contains an abundance of thirst quenching ingredients such as avocado and apricot oils which help to re-hydrate skin, leaving is soft and nourished. I really don’t know what I would have done without this and will definitely be repurchasing for my future travels!

Becca Champagne Split – I have been absolutely head over heels for this blush / highlighter duo. Since picking up at Sephora on my travels, I have been applying it religiously and find that it provides a subtle glow which can also be early built up for a more intense shine. You can find a full review here.

Sounds like you’ve had one busy month! I can’t blame you for leaving the Scottish ‘summer’ behind. I did the same and swapped Edinburgh for both Hong Kong and Tokyo and it was amazing. Your travels look fab, I also can’t believe how quickly the year is coming to a close!

Haha! As much as I love Scotland, I was much in need of some sunshine! That sounds amazing Louise! I’ve just had a peek at your travel posts, your photos are insane. I’ll definitely be reading these tonight!

You’ve done so much this month! I’m particularly jealous of how much travelling you’ve done. And that Bon Iver song is one of my faves now… In fact the new album is just so good in general!
