Styling with Colour Elements
I have to admit, I for one am more than guilty of looking at my overflowing wardrobe and thinking “I have nothing to wear”. For anyone who has ever experienced this frustration, you will know that the struggle is real. However, over the past few months I have made a conscious effort to be a little more mindful when it comes to clothes shopping. Having read so many interesting articles on the benefits of building a capsule wardrobe, this A/W I will be working towards creating my own sustainable wardrobe filled with quality pieces that I know I will love and wear. Last week I stumbled across the very service which will help my on my way – my fashion fairy godmother if you will.
Colour Elements is an eco friendly styling service which aims to cut down our clothing wastage and help us create sustainable wardrobes by matching users to colours which best suit their complexion and characteristics. Last week I was lucky enough to attend the Colour Elements bloggers party in Princess Square Glasgow where I was personally colour matched by the app’s creator Karen Finlayson. During the event, we were treated to nibbles and drinks from the lovely people at Zizzi’s and Sugar Dumplin as well as some fab treatments and products from The Bodyshop. Previous to the event I had never been colour matched by a stylist before, so the experience was completely new to me. I have always had a rough idea of colours which suited my complexion, however the Colour Elements app really does make the process a whole lot easier.
Through the App users can select the element(s) which the Colour Elements team have picked out for them– for me these are Earth and water. Users of the app then simply click their element icon which will display a selection of colours which are tailored to them. Through the free application, users can also click on various colours within their pallets to create their own custom colour card. Once happy, this colour card can be downloaded straight to your phone, and used for reference when shopping on the go. I imagine that this app will be super helpful when shopping for my A/W wardrobe and helping to build a sustainable collection of “go-to” pieces which I know that I can rely on.
The Colour Elements team are currently offering free colour matching via their website, upon receiving your personal Colour ID, you will also be sent free weekly “instant outfits” which are tailored to your personal colour spectrum.
