If we were having Coffee…
Over the past week or so I have read so many of these tag posts and have loved hearing everyone’s take, it has been fab to get “behind the screen” and get to know some of my fellow bloggers a little bit better. Today I thought that I would write my very own. To be honest, I have been a little bit out of touch with the old blog recently, so what better way to ease back in than a little coffee catchup? So here goes…
If we were having coffee I would tell you that in addition to working in digital marketing, I also work as a barista at the weekends and have done for 5 years – jeez, I feel old! During my time at my coffee shop I have become a huge coffee buff, I have mad love for the stuff and I will never say no to a good cuppa!
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I recently cancelled a trip to Australia due to circumstances which were pretty much out of my hands. Although it has been a few weeks now since I officially cancelled my flight I am still pretty gutted about the whole situation and feel that it has left me a bit … directionless. Up until last month I had pretty much planned my life around going away and now I’m just a bit like … so now what? However, I do have plenty of exciting upcoming events to fill my time with and I’m sure I will venture to Aus at some point in the near future.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have recently completed a 10 week fitness bootcamp and currently feel the best I have physically ever felt. Now, I have NEVER been one to exercise never mind attend any sort of class, even the thought of working out gave me the fear. However, at the end of 2016 I decided to throw myself in at the deep end and booked into the January Bootcamp at AG Fitness in Glasgow. Now, ten weeks later, my attitude towards food and exercise has completely changed in the very best way. I have felt myself progress so much over the last few months and most importantly – I no longer fear working out! Lindsey 1 – Gym 0.
If we were having coffee I would probably chat to you about feeling a little deflated in the blogging area. Personally, I love writing, I love photo styling and taking snaps and I love seeing that people have enjoyed my content. However, the promotion side of things e.g scheduling tweets and such has to me, become a little machine like. Recently, I have read a good few posts from other bloggers who feel exactly the same way and I am glad i’m not alone in this. The constant emphasis on numbers and followers has also become a little off putting. Yes, I do feel that building an audience is really important but there is nothing more disheartening than knowing that someone has bought social followers and is now – in the eyes of some regarded as “bigger” “more important” or maybe even “better” than those who have really grafted for it. I really hate to talk about blogging in a negative way as it is something I love so so much, however a little bit of venting now and then is good for the soul, am I right?
If we were having coffee I would tell you about how much I am LOVING Olivia Purvis’s blog at the moment from her personal style to her photography and content skillz, this babe’s corner of the internet is just beautiful!
I hope that you enjoyed this little coffee catch-up and got to know the real Lindsey Lou a little better. I would love to read your take on this tag, so send me your lovely links!
