Jeffree Star X Manny MUA Eclipse Skin Frost Review
Jeffree Star X Manny MUA Eclipse Skin Frost
If you haven’t already heard about this particular release or are new to the Jeffree Star Cosmetics brand, earlier this month Youtube beauty gurus Manny (MUA) Gutierrez and Jeffree Star teamed up to release their very own collaboration line which consisted of two liquid lip shades and one (swoonworthy) highlighter.
As a long time viewer and huge fan of both Manny and Jeffree I was absolutely over the moon when the two revealed that they were creating their very own collection. To add to my excitement the official promo campaign revealed snaps of what seemed to be the PERFECT peachy pink toned highlight, and upon first glance, I was sold. Whilst I may have already exceeded my liquid lip quota for the year (oops), I do believe that theres always room in my makeup drawer for some glowy goodness and so the eager wait began ! Today I thought I would share my review and first impressions of this limited edition “Eclipse” Skin Frost, for anyone who might be interested in the collaboration.
The highlighter pan itself is encased in a heavy duty, matte black compact with holographic branding, which I feel is the perfect nod to both Manny and Jeffree’s goth / glam aesthetic. After hearing a few horror stories of shattered compacts I was initially a little scared that my Skin Frost wouldn’t have survived its journey from the US, however in reality JS Cosmetics made a fantastic job of making sure the compact was sure and all in one piece. I really love that the company have listened to their consumers and have made a point of resolving this issue. All in all I LOVE the vibe of this particular compact and actually prefer it to Jeffree’s signature pink casing.
As a pale skin girl, I sometimes struggle to find highlighters that compliment my skin tone, with cooler toned products leaving me with a ghostly looking vibe and bronze toned products often creating a little but too much contrast. However, I really feel that Jeffree’s latest release has hit the nail on the head. In terms of colour, the highlighter is a beautiful peachy, champagne tone – which I imagine would look great on an array of skin tones.
Whilst some high-glow highlighters on the market can be packed with glitter particles and look a little chunky, “Eclipse” provides more of a sheen to the skin, with zero harsh glitter or chalky particles in sight – result. This ultra fine formula allows the product to be layered to create your desired intensity.
Overall, I am super impressed by the all round fab quality of this collaboration piece – from it’s high quality packaging to its ultra fine formulation and perfect peachy tone, it has more than lived up to its online praise. I understand that Jeffree in particular is a marmite kind of guy who is often the topic of conversation amongst the online beauty community, however I personally love his passion for makeup artistry and the content that he shares on his Youtube channel. It therefore makes me super happy to say that I would 100% recommend this blinding highlight to anyone who may be interested in checking it out. I cannot wait to see what he will release next and look forward to trying out more from the brand.
Have you tried any products from JS cosmetics? I would love to hear your recommendations!
