So we’re now more than halfway through 2017? This is madness! I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun eh? Well, this was certainly the case for the month of May. From my birthday trip to Copenhagen to spontaneous sunny days and a visit to the Glasgow Coffee festival, last month was jam packed full of all the good times. Today I thought I would share a few of my favourite things from the month of May.
Its no secret that I am a super fan when it comes to “The Ordinary” skincare. From their no nonsense branding to their “pick and mix” approach to customisable skincare I have completely fallen for this fantastic brand. Over the last few weeks I have particularly been enjoying their “caffeine solution” – a topical caffeine liquid which is said to reduce puffiness and dark circles in the under eye area.
After a few uses of this solution I saw visible differences in the appearance of my skin colour and texture. The contour of the my under eye appeared a lot less “sunken”, and those pesky dark circles? Well, those are looking a lot more like “yeah I’ve totally had my 8 hours sleep” than “3am? One more episode? Okay, Netflix! In the case of skincare, I often feel that you really do get what you pay for, however I really feel that The Ordinary has challenged this belief.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation
This fab find had been on my “to try” list for some time and last month I finally got round to giving it a whirl. I mean, when a foundation promises “magical” flawless, poreless and glowing skin, can you really pass it up? Having used the product for the last two months or so, I can confirm that it is in fact, magical! . For me, it provided the perfect amount of coverage for everyday wear whilst adding a healthy luminous glow to the skin. Throughout my time using the product I also noticed that it seemed to even out some of my dark /uneven skin tone patches which was an excellent added bonus, yay!
Tanya Burr Cosmetics Quad
In all honesty, whenever influencers announce that they are launching cosmetics, especially at drugstore prices I tend to be quite skeptical. Are they simply putting their name to a cheap, mass made product? Have they really been involved in the manufacturing and design process? However, I am super pleased to say that I have been loving Tanya Burr’s latest eyeshadow quad release. The khaki green shade combo makes for a welcomed change to my everyday neutral eye!
Glasgow Coffee Festival
At the beginning of the month myself and a friend headed to Glasgow coffee festival for the second year in a row. The event, run by Dear Green roasters is every coffee lover’s dream. Whether you are an experienced barista or just love a good latte, I feel that the festival has something for everyone. As a barista, it goes without saying that I am pretty obsessed with all things coffee. I love trying out different roasts and learning about new and alternative brewing methods. At The Coffee Festival it was awesome to see that each of the roasters and stall holders were more than happy to spend time chatting to people about their processes and favourite picks. I would definitely recommend this event for all you all of my fellow coffee lovers out there!
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
When I heard the news that a Kat Von D beauty counter was making its way to my home town, I think I could have cried with happiness. After falling deeply in love with Kat’s cosmetics upon trying the cult “Shade and Light” palette I have been eager try more from the brand – starting off with the coveted tattoo liner. Unlike most eyeliners I have tried in the past, the nib on Kat’s liners are smooth, soft and brush like which allows the pen to easily glide over the eyelid. The liquid formula also lasts all day long, even powering through the sweatiest of workouts! As a complete cat eye novice, I need all the help I can get to achieve fierce flicks on the daily and I am pleased to say that this little gem is just the thing!
The month of May has been filled with quite a few sunny days, and it turns out – those are so much better when you can actually see. After browsing various options for pretty prescription sunnies I decided to opt for these beauties from Glasgow brand Iolla. At just £65 per pair the only problem I was faced with, was picking out which ones to choose!
I hope you enjoyed reading about my latest loves! Are there any products that have tickled your fancy lately? I’d love to hear all about them!
