Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Review
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturiser Review
I don’t know about you but as I am making my way through my twenties I seem to be more and more intrigued by the world of skincare. Is this what they mean by adult-ing? Anyway, I have really enjoyed educating myself about various ingredients and trying out new lotions and potions. However, there has been one particular release which I have been particularly impressed by – the Hydro Boost Water Gel by Neutrogena.
As a combination to oily skin girl, I am a huge fan of gel moisturisers. However, until recently this is something that the UK drugstore’s seemed to be lacking. So when I spotted Neutrogena’s Hydroboost, I knew I had to take it for a spin.
When it comes to skincare, I am always on the lookout for recommendations from fellow bloggers, and as a result, I have tried many a “cult” product. From the likes of Embryolisse’s Lait-Creme Concentrate to Kiehl’s ultra facial moisturiser, I have tested my fair share. Throughout this time I have found that gel based products similar to the likes of Origins Ginzing or Clinique’s Dramatically Different Gel moisturisers tend to work best for my skin as they are oil free and non-greasy.
Therefore the addition of an affordable gel based moisturiser to the high street was music to my little ears. So, first things first, here’s a quick rundown of the product’s claims…
- Instantly quenches dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated all day long.
- Non-Comedogenic – meaning it doesn’t clog pores.
- Applies effortlessly, absorbing quickly into skin without leaving behind an oily or greasy feel.
- Fast Absorbing.
- Ideal for All Skin Types
My First Impressions
Upon applying the product for the first time as part of my evening skincare routine I was really impressed by how quick the gel seemed to absorb into my skin. Initially, the formula reminded me of Origins Ginzing – one of my all time favourite moisturisers. The scent of the product is also dreamy! However, Neutrogena’s water gel did seem to be a lot more light weight and … watery – as the name would suggest. I also found that a little bit of gel went a long long way which is always a good thing! However, with this being said, the consistency of the gel did have me wondering how such a light formula would provide “intense hydration” as claimed by the brand.
Come, the morning after my first application I was genuinely amazed by the effect that the product had had on my skin, within just one use! My skin felt noticeably softer to the touch and looked a lot plumper and hydrated than usual. The gel formula seemed to have locked in moisture, leaving my skin feeling as though I had just applied the product – even though it had been eight whole hours since application. With this being said, I would also like to add that unlike most moisturisers I have tried, there didn’t seem to be any build up of grease or oil residue which was impressive.
I have now been using the moisturiser morning and night for 30 days straight and am still as amazed by the gel as I was upon first application. When used during the day, the gel’s cooling and fast absorbing formula makes for an amazing base for foundation and doesn’t disturb normal application. Whilst at night, the product really locks in all of its hydrating goodness, leaving skin looking and feeling more supple and smooth come morning. Overall, I would highly recommend this amazing product to anyone wishing to try out Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost line. I for one, cannot wait to try more from the collection!
