Zoella Beauty Jelly and Gelato Review + My Blogiversary!

When I think back to the inspiration behind starting my blog, there is one person that comes to mind. Yep, that’s right, Zoella. Although this may be considered very “cliche” statement, it is oh so very true. From the age of 17, I have read Zoe’s (beautiful) blog and watched her videos. During this time, I have witnessed the inception and growth of her untouchable brand empire.

I feel that Zoe is the perfect example of someone who “Believed she could, so she did”. To me, that is pretty damn inspiring. From publishing her first blog post to becoming a bestselling author, entrepreneur,  and star of new media, there is no denying that she has absolutely killed the game. I personally have endless respect for Zoe. Over the years, I have been mega inspired by her creativity, drive and all round lady boss work ethic. So much so that I actually focussed my final post-grad thesis paper on her Youtube career (I promise I’m not a crazy fan girl) well, maybe just a little bit.

Zoella Beauty

When Zoe first revealed that she was releasing a beauty line all those years ago, I had no doubts that it was going to be fantastic, and after snapping up some of the original line, my predictions were confirmed. From packaging to product, she really did ace it! However, for one reason or another, I haven’t been overly tempted by the collections that followed… until now. Upon watching snaps of her genius promo day for her latest release – the Jelly and Gelato collection, I had a feeling that this line would be pretty special. The scent theme of the range also sounded right up my street. In all honesty, I have to admit that I was initially drawn in by the (beautiful) packaging of the range. I mean, geometric illustrations and muted neons, sign me up!

The Scent

Each of the products in the line carry the same scent – which is described as a mix of elderflower and pomegranate. To me, this smells really refreshing and almost citrus-y, similar to the Origins grapefruit body souffle. I feel like this is perfect for the summer months and is definitely different to anything else she has released previously.

The Body Pudding

Although I have tried a few products from Zoe’s original line, I tend to play it safe and stick to bath and shower products over body lotions and potions. Therefore, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Zoe’s body cream. However, I found this “body pudding” to be surprisingly thick and nourishing – similar to Origin’s body souffle’s but a little lighter than The Body Shop’s body butter. Once applied, the scent of the product also sticks around for a decent amount of time and a little scoop of the “pudding” goes a long way. This is definitely my favourite pick from the line, and definitely, one that I will be repurchasing in the future.

The Bath Frosting

First off, that packaging though…isn’t it gorgeous? This “bath frosting” was definitely the most intriguing product of the bunch. I really love that Zoe decided to introduce a shiny new product to her range. The “frosting” itself comes in the form of a fine white powder, with each tube containing four single use sachets. To use the product, simply tip the sachet into your bath and swirl around to create “milky” bubbles”. I’m a huge fan of nourishing bath products such as Lush’s Butterball, so I was mega pleased to find that this provides a similar effect. The ultra fine, heavenly scented powder transforms bathwater into a dreamy moisturising milk –  leaving skin silky soft. I love that this “no frills” product is a little more calming and gentle than some on the market. I feel like it would, therefore, be a great option for those with sensitive skin.

The Shower Sauce

Let’s be real here, a shower gel is a shower gel. I didn’t find this to be particularly revolutionary, but is there such a thing as a revolutionary shower gel? Anyway, this shower sauce foams nicely and smells delicious and that’s really all you need, right? It gets a thumbs up from me!
