My Fitness Journey
My Fitness Journey
If you have been following me for a while, you will know that fitness is not something I have ever discussed on my blog and to be completely honest, I never thought I would. After trying various (big and scary) commercial gyms in the past I had concluded that working out just wasn’t for me. However, since biting the bullet and signing up for my first ever Bootcamp with AG Fitness earlier this year, my attitude towards fitness and exercise has changed completely.
Like many people, I think the main thing that held me back from heading the gym previously was the typical gym environment and the people I thought that I would encounter there. Previously when I heard the word “gym”, I would imagine a big mirrored room filled with sweaty, scary looking men who ate nothing but chicken and talked about something called gains… However, upon attending my first Bootcamp with AG Fitness I was surprised to find that Andy’s gym could not be any further from this image. Unlike the horrific vision I had in my head, the AG Fitness gym is a welcoming and unintimidating space filled with genuinely nice people and super friendly trainers.
My Bootcamp Experience
As someone who avoided the gym like the plague, I was pretty nervous when I showed up for my first session. However, throughout my time at Bootcamp, Andy (the owner of AG Fitness) and his team went over and above to make us feel comfortable and were more than happy to help us out if we had any queries. They also continuously motivated us (in a non-intimidating way) to push ourselves and work that little bit harder.
What I loved most about Bootcamp was the variety of each of the sessions. Each day we would have a new workout, filled with a mix of different exercises which kept things really interesting. During the 10 week period, I also met a bunch of lovely people who were in the same “gym fear” boat as me, which was really reassuring!
Ch ch ch changes…
I should mention that upon signing up for Bootcamp it was never my goal to lose heaps of weight, I was more looking to tone up and get active. Throughout the course of the sessions, I noticed a huge difference in my strength and fitness levels. After just a few weeks, those big scary weights suddenly didn’t seem so scary anymore – and that felt great. However, as well as feeling physically fitter, I also noticed a massive change in my attitude towards the gym and working out. I now no longer fear the gym and I actually enjoy going there – yep, really!
Since signing up for my first session in January this year I have attended two Bootcamps and have recently signed up for my third. I have also had one on one personal training with Andy, which I could not recommend more! In addition to this, a few months back I took AG Fitness’s “Intro to Lifting” course. Yep, you heard it, a lifting course, where Andy and his team walked us through the basics of various lifting techniques. This is something I never imagined that I would ever enjoy but I actually really loved it … and I learned a lot!
I never thought I would see the day that I would actually enjoy working out and lifting scary big weights but this has completely changed, thanks to AG Fitness. If you are feeling a bit like I did, I would thoroughly recommend checking out this amazing gym! You can do so via the gym’s website, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram – how handy! I know that Andy will be more than happy to help you out!
