5 Products for Glowing Skin this Autumn / Winter
Luminous Base Products
As much as I love the cold crisp air that accompanies this time of year, during these chilly winter I often find that my skin can look a little… flat. Throughout Autumn / Winter I, therefore, tend to switch up makeup bag accordingly – saying adios to those matte finish foundations and welcoming in some dewy, lit from within beauty bits. Today I thought that I would share a few of my favourite base products for achieving a luminous, glowing skin base – even throughout the nippiest of months.
Fenty Kilowatt Highlighter
As a beauty enthusiast, you can imagine that I was pretty damn excited for the launch of Rihanna Fenty beauty makeup line earlier this month. Upon seeing an abundance of the initial press images, I knew that I just had to pick up one of those Kilowatt highlighters for myself. To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect from the line as I am often skeptical of celebrity brand releases (kkw beauty, I’m looking at you). However, upon using this product religiously over the past month, I have been amazed by the quality of this beautiful highlighter. This particular compact contains two blush tones highlights – “Lightening Dust” which has a subtle satin finish and “Fire Crystal” – a shimmer-packed showstopper. Together I feel that this compact makes for the perfect day and night duo and would be excellent for adding that coveted glow to the skin this Autumn / Winter.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
Although I have tried quite a few face powders in my time, nothing (really nothing) quite compares to Hourglass’s beautiful ambient lighting powders. I find these powders to be super unique as they are not as mattifying as a regular face powder but they’re not quite as shimmery or glittery as a highlighter either. The formula of the powder is so finely milled and velvety and texture. This provides the most seamless, airbrushed finish to the skin. If you have one higher end beauty product on your A/W wishlist, let it be this.
Bourjois Healthy Mix
Ahh the old trusty healthy mix. I first picked up this product when I was around the age of sixteen, and since then it has become my absolute ride or die drugstore foundation. Its gel texture feel super hydrating and provides the most beautiful “lit from within” dewy look to the skin. It also smells like a dream! A much as I love my high coverage foundations such as Revlon’s Colorstay and the Estee Lauder Double Wear, I do feel that these can be extremely drying on the skin during the winter months. Therefore, come autumn, I tend to switch them out for my trusty Healthy Mix which provides a little more hydration to my skin.
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer
This product is actually relatively new to me, however, it didn’t take long for me to realise I was onto a winner. When it comes to concealer, I haven’t ever really found one that I have loved. This all changed when I stumbled across Bourjois radiance reveal earlier this year. Having loved and used Bourjois base products for years, it should have been a no brainer that their concealers would be equally as amazing. This particular formula is super creamy and pigmented which makes application a dream. It is also ultra brightening – as the name would suggest, which is fab for anyone who’s eyebags are looking a bit too dark for their liking – like mine.
Revlon Highlighter Stick
Now, I have to be honest and say that I am not usually into stick products, I often find that they aren’t all that creamy and tend to drag across my skin. However, this stick from revlon is an absolute game changer. The formula not only melts into the skin but remains there all day long. This particular shade is also extremely complimentary to my pale skin without being overly pigmented or overpowering.
