Get on your Dancin’ Shoes – The TRNSMT Festival 2018 Lookbook
Festival season is fast approaching, and as you may have guessed from my Instagram feed I am pretty excited about it. It feels as though it was just yesterday that I was packing my (gigantic) rucksack, ready for the first gig of the season last year.
As far as 2018 festival plans go, I am so excited to be heading to two dates of TRNSMT Fest! First up, on Sunday the 1st of June, I will be heading to Glasgow Green to catch one of my bucket list bands – The Arctic Monkeys! Having missed out on their earlier tours, I am beyond excited to be seeing Mr Turner and his crew for the very first time this year – amongst many other amazing acts including Blossoms, Miles Kane, Declan Mckenna and more!
On Sunday the 8th, I will be returning to The Green to catch another two of my favourites – Chvrches and The Killers – in addition to the fab selection of local artists the festival has on offer. This is definitely going to be a very nostalgic one for me as The Killers were the headliners of my very first festival – way back in 2009! Yep, after months of pestering my poor parents on the daily, I managed to wangle my first ever ticket to T in the Park for my 16th birthday. Almost 10 years later (oh god) and a few albums down the line, I am equally as buzzing to catch the band again – this time, in my hometown!
As I have rambled about in my many personal style posts – comfort plays a pretty big factor in the clothes I tend to go for. There is nothing worse than feeling restricted or uncomfortable for the sake of “fashun”- especially at events like festivals. Therefore there will be no sign of Unitards or heels for me. I do, however, have a few outfits in mind, and with the festival fast approaching, I have partnered up with TRNSMT to share two of my favourite festival looks here on my blog!
First up I picked out an “old faithful” combo – a good old band see and denim skirt. Can you really go wrong with distressed denim and fishnets – I don’t think so! I opted for this fab Roses inspired tee from Glasgow indie store – Social Recluse. If like me, you have a love for all things Madchester / all round bangin’ bands, I would totally recommend checking out their Glasgow store or online shop for all of your muso needs!
For dancin’ shoes, I will be sporting my low top Dr Martens – aka the ultimate festival shoe. I can imagine that these will be especially fab if the festival site gets a little marshy as the days go by. To complete this getup, it had to be this denim Zara number – my favourite purchase of the season so far. It is a great piece for instantly brightening up any outfit and its oversized fit also allows for multiple layers to be added underneath if things get a little chilly at the festival.
Look Number Two
For day to two of the festival, I chose this jumpsuit and tee dream team. I recently picked up this striped jumpsuit of dreams and this retro look tee from one of my favourite online retailers – Bershka. I just can’t seem to get enough of their pieces recently. Although the pair look pretty fab together, I am hoping that the sun makes an appearance and I can wear the jumpsuit on its own. I have paired this combo with a good old pair of old school vans – another firm favourite of mine.
The Jacket – For years, I have been lusting over customised / hand painted jackets but have struggled to find anything similar (and non-tacky) on the high street. So, when I spotted this beauty on Forever 21’s website last year, there was absolutely no doubt that I needed it in my life! Sadly, I can’t seem to find an identical one for this season. However, the store does have a range of fab alternatives on offer!

To carry my festival essentials, I’ll be going for this studded number from Zara. It is small enough to pass festival and gig bag restrictions but big enough to store everything from your ticket and ID to an extra power bank. Having taken this for a test drive at The Rolling Stones gig last week, I can safely say that it is the perfect size for all of your gig essentials (multiple red lipsticks and all).
Disclaimer! It goes without saying that no Scottish festival outfit would be complete without an obnoxiously oversized poncho. However this year I am sending out all of the good weather vibes into the universe – that and I didn’t fancy walking around Glasgow Green last weekend looking like a crazy person.
Musos Make Glasgow
As a huge music lover, I am forever raving about Glasgow’s incredible music scene. There really is nothing like it. Therefore, the thought of having all of my favourite local bands including Catholic Action, Fatherson and Lucia and some of my all-time favourite headliners play on my doorstep is pretty amazing!
Although I do love a good camping festival, there is also something pretty magical about being able to head home to the comfort of your own bed afterwards. The Cherry on the Cake? In addition to the festival’s impressive lineup, I was also excited to hear that this year, Platform – Glasgow’s fab street food market will be also be popping up at TRNSMT- providing festival goers with the best of the city’s street food eats!
If you would like to find out more info about the festival’s amenities etc, the full sitemap is now live over on the TRNSMT website alongside additional information on transport, accommodation and ticket availability.
I had such an amazing time at the festival last year, catching some of my favourites like Kasabian, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The View and The Lafontaines. Biffy’s closing set has to be one of my favourite performances of all time! Therefore I cannot wait to do it all over again and see what TRNSMT 2018 has to offer!
If you would like to follow me along to the festival, I’ll no doubt be sharing all of the snaps over on my Insta!
