The Coffee Lover’s Gift Guide
Today, October 1st is International Coffee day – woo! As a former barista and all round caffeine fiend, it is safe to say that I am pretty obsessed with the stuff. From late night dissertation writing sessions to early morning red-eye flights – we’ve been through a lot together. Therefore, today I thought that I would dedicate this post to my bff beverage and create a mini gift guide for those who love coffee as much as I do. Whether you are looking to treat yo self or pick up a little something for the coffee lover in your life, I’m pretty sure you’ll find something in this little rundown.
Have a coffee machine or cafetiere at home? Why not pick up some beans from your local coffee hang! Personally my favourite beans in the world come from Glasgow based coffee shop and small-batch roaster – Gordon Street Coffee. If you haven’t already, I would wholly recommend checking out their signature blend – or Glasgow Roast for something a little bit stronger. Not based in Glasgow? Not to worry! You can also pick up some of their fab roasts over on the Gordon Street Website.
Love espresso strength coffee but don’t have a coffee machine at home? You need an Aeropress in your life! The Aeropress is handy brewing device which uses air to pressure to create the perfect cup of coffee every time. Simply pop in your pre-ground coffee, add the desired amount water, allow to brew for around 30 seconds and slowly plunge down the top. This device is super easy to use and is especially handy for those who love to travel! If you are really keen on your coffee, there a billion and one different recipes brewing method videos on Youtube if you fancy mixing things up a bit!
Over the past few years, I have spotted quite a few coffee subscription services floating around the internet. However, there is one that really caught my eye – Perky Blinders. Perky Blenders (10/10 for the name alone) are an East London coffee company who are doing things a little bit differently. As well as having various pop-up shops and kiosks, Perky Blenders also offer a letterbox subscription service. With this service, the company delivers a freshly roasted blend of your choice (or a mystery blend) right to your doorstep, for as little as £6.50 a month – how cool!
Mugs, mugs, mugs.
If you are a little bit like me, I’m pretty sure you’ll already have an embarrassingly large collection of mugs. I’m not entirely sure how it has got to this point but I seem to have quite the selection, 24 going on 44 eh? Nonetheless, is there such a thing as too many mugs? I think not! Some of my favourite places to shop for them include Urban Outfitters, H&M Home, and Typo.com.
Homewear and Accessories
Looking for a gift for that person who has everything? I have one word for you – Etsy! I guarantee that you will find something on this magical Aladdin’s cave! From literal latte art to wearable coffee themed gifts, Etsy seems to have it all. Why not support some independent creative and makers by picking up something a little extra special!
I really hope that you are having a great International coffee day and are celebrating with a big old cup of the good stuff! Ohh and if you have any additional gift suggestions or “must visit” coffee hangs do let me know!
This month I have challenged myself to publish a new post each weekday, from Monday to Friday so keep your eyes peeled for some snazzy new content coming your way! Until then you can keep up to date over on Twitter and Instagram – why not come and say hi!
